Derrick Altland is a business consultant and staff accountant at Kern and Company, P.C., Certified Public Accountants. Founded in 1980, the firm serves the Eastern and Central Pennsylvania market.
Derrick is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) and a 2010 graduate of Shippensburg University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. While at Shippensburg University Derrick served as Treasurer of the University’s Institute of Management Accountants. In that position he also served as “Plant Tour Coordinator”, arranging for student tours of Harley Davidson’s York, Pa. facility and Houser Estates Winery near Gettysburg, Pa.
Prior to working with Kern and Company, P.C., Derrick worked as a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance. That experience is especially applicable to Kern and Company, P.C.’s forensic accounting and litigation support work. In addition, Derrick has experience working for the Jackson-Hewitt income tax preparation service provider.
His work at Kern and Company, P.C. involves a variety of accounting, auditing, consulting, and tax areas. He specializes in both individual and corporate taxation and tax planning, with a concentration in the audit of religious not-for-profit organizations. At Kern and Company, P.C., he is involved with several areas of research and administrative work flow.
Derrick grew up in and lives in Halifax, Pa. He enjoys football, hunting, and camping.
